Numerical simulation is a powerful tool for the preliminary evaluation and the analysis of complex processes. Among the available numerical procedures, Finite Element Method (FEM) efficiently allows to perform multiphysics simulation, leading to the numerical solution of coupled Partial Differential Equations (PDE).
In recent years, within ICMATE activities, multiphysics simulation has been performed for the evaluation and optimization of thermoelectric modules and devices. Numerical analysis was also employed in the design of thermal and electrical characterization systems. Simulation has mainly been focused on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Structural Mechanics, Heat transfer and Electromagnetics. Besides thermoelectric applications, multiphysics modeling has been developed for nanofluids and film deposition issues.
