Attività R&D
Svolge attività nel settore della scienza e tecnologia dei materiali metallici (leghe a memoria di forma, leghe bioriassorbibili, schiume metalliche, compositi a matrice metallica nanostrutturati, materiali superconduttori, materiali per lo stoccaggio d’idrogeno). E’ interessato allo studio delle correlazioni fra microstruttura e proprietà funzionali dei materiali e della loro evoluzione durante le fasi di processo. Ha sviluppato particolari competenze nella sintesi e funzionalizzazione di materiali con tecniche fusorie non convenzionali (Plasma PAM, Induzione VIM, VAR) di Advanced manufacturing (trattamenti laser in fibra e fabbricazione additiva 3D - Selective Laser Melting).

Research and development of innovative metallic materials (shape memory alloys, biomedical alloys, metal matrix composites, hydrogen storage alloys). Metallic alloys processing by advanced melting technologies (PAM, VIM, VAR), metal additive manufacturing. Alloys and devices characterizations.
Coordinating and advising
He has been principal investigator and scientific responsible of several national and international projects and a number of industrial funded activities. He has been official reviewer of CIVR, PRIN, MISE programs and scientific reviewer of several international sci. journals. He served as elected board member: the American Society of Metals ASM-SMST; the International Union of Vacuum Society IUVSTA. He has been board member of the physical metallurgy board of AIM and board member of AIV national societies.
