University of Padua The headquarter of Padua has recently seen the aggregation of two well-established CNR scientific realities, the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and of the Surface (in the same research area of Padua) and the U.O.S. of Padua of the Institute of Molecular Sciences and Technologies (at the Department of Chemistry, University of Padua). This process allowed to integrate 3 Units in Padua working in similar fields and with skills that complement and complete.

The seat carries out research and technology transfer in different areas of chemistry, materials and energetics. There are various research activities undergoing on materials for energy applications including thermoelectric materials and devices for the recovery of medium-high temperature waste heat, the development of nanofluids for heat exchange or nanofluids and coatings for lubrication and the improvement of energy efficiency of devices, the development of materials for solid oxide fuel cells and membranes for hydrogen purification, the development of photoactive nanomaterials and inorganic materials such as multifunctional platforms for environmentally friendly applications. In many cases the development of materials is supported by the modeling of materials properties and devices based on such materials.

The skills in chemistry of materials, as well as the consolidated expertise in electrochemistry, are also being exploited in supramolecular chemistry and self-assembling systems, in the development of catalysts and electrocatalysts, in the development of radiochemical compounds and diagnostic radiochemical techniques, of compounds for nanomedicine, of geopolymers and of PVD and CVD coatings for various applications. In addition, there is consolidated experience in the field of cultural heritage and restoration chemistry.



In Padua 73 units of staff operate as researchers and administrative staff, besides students and fellows assisting the research. The skills are multidisciplinary, being the researchers chemists, physicists, engineers, materials scientists, geologists.

By car

From A4 highway, exit at "Padova Est", take the ring road on the left, with direction Piove di Sacco / Chioggia, then at the third exit (no. 13) you can find Corso Stati Uniti. Follow route signs to mandatory "U", then the entrance of the Padua Research Area CNR is approximately 100 meters after the underpass.

From A13 highway, by taking the exit "Padova Zona Industriale" you directly arrive to Corso Stati Uniti, about 2 km from the entrance of the Padua Research Area CNR.

 

By train

Getting off at Padua railway station and then with the bus no. 7.

 

By plane

Venice Airport then with the bus to the Padua railway station.
From here you can get to the Padua Research Area CNR by taking the bus no. 7. Also, it's possible to use the internnational airports of Treviso or Verona.



The research unit at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Padua is located in Via Marzolo 1, a short distance from the historic city center.

By car

Highway A4 Milan-Venice, if you arrive from Venice take the exit "Padova Est" then continue to the city center - direction "Istituti Universitari"; if you arrive from Milan, take the exit "Padova Ovest", then continue to the city center - direction "Fiera".

Highway A13 Padua-Bologna, take the exit "Padova Sud, Terme Euganee" follow the ring road (Corso Australia), take the exit no. 4 to the city center. then continue - direction "Fiera".

 

By train

From the railway station the Department can be reached by taking the bus (Lines 7 or 9, stop at Piazzale Boschetti's Parking) -or- with the tram (at the stop of "Corso Garibaldi giardini dell'Arena" you have to traverse the Arena gardens).
By walking you can arrive in less than 20 minutes by exiting in front of the railway station to the left, and then taking via Valeri from the roundabout.
A taxi ride takes about 5 minutes.
